Exams do not mean that you need to bury your head in books and stay up all night studying! It will not work for exam. So, do not panic. Here are some effective tips to tackle exams and defeat stress?

Deal with the stress:

Take regular breaks, exercise daily, and allow your brain to relax for some time. If you start to feel upset or overwhelmed, don't read book for a while. Too much stress can impact negatively on your scores.

Attempt past exam papers:

It is always a good idea to attempt old exam papers to familiarize yourself with the structure and format.

Practice sample papers:

Test yourself regularly. You may attempt online practice tests to check your topic-wise strengths in a subject. Focus on accuracy and speed.

Study in groups:

It may sometimes turn monotonous studying alone. Studying with a group of friends can provide variety and moral support. It's always motivating to have people around you who are working towards the same goals.

Avoid the last-minute rush:

It is good to be prepared. Last-minute cramming may not help in scoring well. Neither will last-minute preparations like getting your things together before leaving for the exams. Keep your school bag before going to sleep in night.

Scan the paper before you begin:

Read all of the instructions carefully and check how many questions there are in all. Plan which questions to answer first. You may begin with questions you are confident about or the ones that have more weight.

Review your answers:

If you have time to spare, it would be worthwhile to review your answers and also check whether you have answered all the questions.

Manage your time:

Do not delve on difficult questions. If you get stuck, skip the question for the time being and return to it after you have completed the rest of the paper. Make sure you leave yourself enough time to attempt all the questions.

Get enough sleep:

One should never compromise on sleep to study more. Sleep deprivation can lead to reduced IQ level and a fatigued brain. 7-8 hours of sleep is a must for a healthy body and mind.

Finally, stay calm. Collect and compose yourself before you begin. It is just an exam after all, not a matter of life and death. It is a whole year work which will reflect, and not just a day's cramming. So go through the question paper calmly and give it your best shot!

All the best!
